There are two main types of facilities management: soft and hard. Hard facilities management refers to the maintenance of the physical structures of a property and the systems that keep it safe, such as fire alarms, plumbing and heating. Soft facilities management refers to systems that can be managed to make a building more comfortable, such as cleaning, security and grounds maintenance.
